While we are taking a bit more of a living books approach to schooling and trying to find things less mom intensive (since I have a new baby as of this summer), we do still have several resources I would like to use since I know she enjoys them and we have them.

Bible & Catechesis

We will continue to use My First Catholic Bible and Faith & Life 1: Our Heavenly Father.    They worked well for us last year and I’d like to finish them up this year.

Reading/Handwriting/Spelling

As I mentioned in June (and April), we LOVED Logic of English and will continue with Foundations B, C and hopefully D.

Math

We will switch to Saxon Math 1 for this year.  I’m hoping it will work well for us.

Science

I plan on finishing up Apologia Zoology 1 – Flying Creatures this school year.  I haven’t decided if we will do science in fall and spring or all year yet.   If we decide to continue, we will probably buy Apologia’s Astronomy next.

History

We will continue to use Story of the World Volume 1 along with the Great Empires unit from Homeschool in the in Woods that we reviewed last year.

Geography

We will add in Expedition Earth coupled with Little Passports this year.  My daughter will have a blast with that!

Art

We will continue using Artistic Pursuits.  My little artist would go through several lessons a day if I would let her :).   We also subscribe to the Kiwi Crate for additional arts & crafts projects.

What subjects do you include in your first grade studies?
