At my house, we are voracious readers. People who visit our house for the first time almost always comment on the number of books we have & they don’t even see all of them. Some of my favorite books are in crates downstairs.

In those crates, I store our seasonal book collection. Because they are in crates, they are harder to get to, preserving their magic and wonder for the season they help celebrate.

I recently received a copy of The Parable Treasury from Thomas Nelson and its a perfect fit for our seasonal book collection.  I’ve had several of Liz Curtis Higgs’ stories on my wish list for a while. This single volume takes care of 4 with one fell swoop — The Pumpkin Patch Parable, The Sunflower Parable, the Pine Tree Parable, and the Parable of the Lily. There is a story for each season of the year.

Each parable tells a lovely seasonal story about a farmer and his family. On the bottom of each page is a bible verse that echoes the story and points is back to God. They are wonderfully told and beautifully illustrated and I’m so glad to add this to my library! They are intended for ages 4-7 and I’d have to agree.

My favorite season is summer. I love the warm weather, fresh vegetables and the beach.
