Tommy Mommy sent us two books this month — The Parable Treasury (there is still time to enter to win!) and A Very Merry Christmas Prayer.
A Very Merry Christmas Prayer is a die cut board book; that is, it’s not square. The Christmas Tree Edge is cut out. It is intended for ages 0-4, but it’s kind of big & heavy. It’s great for reading (and let’s face it, eating), but it’s not the size for a 1 year old or younger to hold easily on their own. The outside has a bit of sparkle but nothing messy or obnoxious.
There are 12 (2 page) spreads with a 4 lines of rhyming text comparing an aspect of the holiday season with some aspect of God–lights, songs, bed, family and more. It has, as usual, beautiful illustrations and the rhyme is very well done. It’s a joy to read aloud and is a great way to instill gratitude and point to God from a young age.
