I’m so excited to be working with Sarah @ Sidetracked Sarah in the 5 Days of Cleaning Series this week.   There are 22 bloggers participating, sharing their tips for cleaning and organizing this week!   This week, I am going to share my favorite cleaning tools for every type of cleaning.

Today, I am sharing my favorite carpet cleaning tools.

1.   Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Upright Vacuum

Until last summer, I had a cheapo vacuum and I HATED it.   In fact, right after we moved into our new house, it seemed to die.  I think the new carpeting killed it.   So last summer, I bought the Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Upright Vacuum.   LOVE it.  It has great suction, I don’t need to remember to buy bags, it was super easy to assemble and it’s survived the attention of my 4 and 1 year old.

2.    Oxiclean Versatile Stain Remover

My favorite day-to-day carpet cleaning tool is Oxiclean Versatile Stain Remover without a doubt.    Be warned that it IS a bleach and so it will make a super clean spot on your carpet if you aren’t careful.  I will, however, take a bleach spot over a baby poop stain or goldfish spit up any day.

3.  White Washcloths

In order to use the OxyClean (or any home carpet cleaning remedy), you will need a stack of clean white washcloths to soak up the stains and rinse without putting color back into the carpet.  I make my OxyClean paste in a junk bowl labeled NO FOOD just in case it makes it upstairs; normally, it lives in my laundry room.

4.  Hoover MaxExtract 60 PressurePro Carpet Deep Cleaner

And for cleaning up the BIG messes and just plain dirty carpets, I recently received a Hoover MaxExtract 60 PressurePro Carpet Deep Cleaner to review online and I’m so happy to finally be able to clean my carpets!   As a kid my mom, always cleaned the carpets and ours was pretty icky.

I liked that the Hoover was SUPER easy to assemble and took less than 5 minutes (even with my 4 & 1 year old helpers). I read the directions a time or two to make sure I knew how to use it and it pretty much worked just like they said it would. The only thing that I didn’t like about it was that I can’t figure out a good way to clean the dirt/sand out of the main unit where it pulls the water back up into the dirty water tank. And I know it worked because my water was FILTHY. It took an entire smallish bottle (less than 32 oz) of CleanPlus x2 concentrate, 4 clean water refills and 2 water tank empties to clean an approximate 400 sq foot room.
