Several months ago, I was lamenting that I couldn’t find anything I liked to teach my children about character in a proactive, sequential way.   When Lorrie said she was going to send us Artists and Authors this month, I was intrigued.  And then when it came in, I was surprised.  It’s much smaller than I anticipated — only about 5.5 inches square and spiral bound.

If you choose to use Artists and Authors as a simple curriculum or jumping point, you could because there are 5 super short lessons per week on the same topic.   I think I’m going to use it as a pre-dinner activity…the time of day when everyone melts down just as I get knee deep in cooking.   Lorrie includes 24 character traits, the 10 commandments, fruits of the spirit and even special sections for Valentine’s day, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I’m really excited to give this a try as a daily resource with my oldest daughter.   I just need to invest in some crayons or colored pencils–right now her primary medium is magic markers :).   If you are looking for a quick but thorough character study for your little artist, Artists and Authors would be a great place to start!
