May is the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary.   We had such a lovely talk about Mary at my Mom’s Group yesterday.   God could have chosen for his son to come in any way he wanted.  And he chose to have him come through Mary.   And his first miracle was performed at the prompting of his mother (the wedding feast at Cana).   If you think about it, this was the first instance of her interceding for us!

If you aren’t already, this would be a great time to start saying a daily Rosary.  If you aren’t sure you can fit it in, try a decade at a time.   I have written a series in how to say the Rosary.   If you already do, try adding the Angelus (traditionally prayed at 6, noon and 6).

And the angel declared unto Mary
And she conceived of the Holy Spirit

Hail Mary….

Behold the Handmaiden of the Lord
Be it done unto me according to thy Word

Hail Mary…

And the Word become Flesh
and dwelt among us

Hail Mary…

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy grace unto our hearts, that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, thy Son, was made known by the message of an Angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Do you have any special traditions to celebrate the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary?
