Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham Jr., is a fabulous resource for learning what you need to do in order for your sons and daughters to continue their relationship with Christ even after they leave your home.   I have to admit, when I first got this book to review, I kind of groaned.   I figured it would be dry and boring and irrelevent.   SOOOOOO not the case.   Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down!

It is estimated that 75%+ of Christian teens walk away from the church by the end of their first year of college.   Why?   Families have relegated that duty to the churches!   Mr. Baucham spends the first chapter or two making his case.  The rest of the book is spent showing parents a better way.  He addresses many topics from how to teach your family about God, how to live as God’s children, how & why to make God the priority in your home, and how to view money.    He also discussed how present churches are run and how they NEED to be run to accomodate the changes that should take place in your home.

There was very little I disagreed with in this book.  In fact, I agreed so much that it took forever to read this book because I kept getting distracted by having to remedy certain things.   Especially in the section where he discussed training your children in character and about God; I jumped right up and began buying the homeschool books I’d been wanting for my preschool daughter because I knew I didn’t have many books like that for her age.  I spent the whole book doing things like that.

I think that this is a great book for ANY parent who isn’t putting God first (and most of us aren’t).   It’s a great jumpstart and has wonderful practical tips.   This was such a good book that I’m even making my husband read it!   I don’t make him read much; he doesn’t get a lot of time to do it.   It’s also given me a kick to finish reading some other “training your child” books that I haven’t had a chance to read.    I would highly recommend this to EVERYONE.  Even if you already live this way, the validation of your lifestyle would probably be nice :).

Thanks to Crossway for providing a copy of this book for review!
