Last time my brother came over, we were talking about cooking and I mentioned that I made my own taco seasoning. I told him to check out my cookbook and then noticed it wasn’t in my recipe book! Which meant it wasn’t here either. I originally got this from savingdinner.com, but have modified it.

Ingredients

1 cup dried minced onion
1/3 cup cup chili powder
2 tablespoons cumin
4 teaspoons crushed red pepper
1 tablespoon oregano
4 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder

Directions

Combine all ingredients and store in a cool, dry place.

Use about 1 Tablespoon per pound of meat and add 1/4-1/2 teaspoons of salt to taste.

That’s it! You never have to buy taco seasoning in the little packets again.

What are your favorite convenience items to make from scratch?
