This last year, I have come to realize that just because I’m short on time and money doesn’t mean like I have to LOOK like it.   And it’s especially magnified seeing as I’ve recently given birth, which doesn’t help matters!  And so, here are my top five frump fighters:

1.   Bras.   You can even get cute nursing bras at Target, so no excuses!   If the girls are looking good, so are you!   ‘Nuff said.

2.   Cute (but comfy) shoes.    Flip flops and your worn out tennis shoes when worn with yoga pants and a t-shirt are just so-so.   But add a cute pair of ballet flats and suddenly, you look like you tried.

3.   Watch that looks like a bracelet.   For years, I wore a Timex Ironman watch with a nasty plastic band.   And no jewelry.  EVER.   I recently got a watch with a beaded wristband and I always look and feel like a million bucks!

4.   Cute purse.    A purse that fits your body size and shape will do wonders for you.  Since you will use it all the time, don’t use one that doesn’t work for you, just keep looking until you find one you like.   Don’t settle!

5.   Structured jacket.   Denim is my personal favorite.   I found that my denim jacket can make even yoga pants and a t-shirt look dressy with a fancy looking watch/bracelet and a cute pair of shoes.   Who knew!

Resolve to start the new year looking better than ever in the body you have.   Fight the frump!

What are your favorite frump fighters?   Any fashion must-have’s that I should know about?

Frump fighters–I like your idea of cute shoes. I heard a couple of years ago that one should buy a gorgeous cashmere sweater and wear everyday in the cool weather like you’d wear a sweatshirt. So last winter, I found cashmere pullovers on sale and bought TWO. And I do wear them interchangeably like sweatshirts :). You’ll never look frumpy in cashmere.

I think a little make up, particularly lipstick, goes a long way in fighting frump. This is a fun list and some good reminders.

put me in yoga pants and a t-shirt and the rest doesn’t matter. Yes, cute jacket, purse and sister Margaret and Martha are looking good as well.

Earrings are definitely frump fighters. Also, I don’t believe in going a day without at least putting on minimal makeup. You should look your best for your family most of all!

You know its very difficult to look chic with not a lot of money and it is very easy to look chic with a lot of money. I never spend a lot of money for my clothes, and I think I am looking chic, lol !

I have a girlfriend who always looks fabulous and it about killed her to buy jeans new ($30). I know she does it for practically nothing. I envy her patience :).

Fun fave fives. Love those shoes and I have a similar pair. A favorite frump fighter of mine is nice perfume. Something about spraying it on automatically makes me want to dress nicer and hold my carriage better.

Cute jacket! and wow….i don’t know ANYONE who wears a watch anymore….it’s so pretty. I have 2 great watches that sit in my drawer because I always have my cell with me…same with my teen girl. My 12 yr old does wear her cute watch from some trendy preteen store but now that she has an ipod with a clock, she probably wont’ wear it as much.
for me, I always make sure I have my eyeliner on (my eyes look dead with out it!) and i LOVE LOVE LOVE my denim jacket..especially from the months of April-Sept as it really spices up a pair of jeans and a tee……and earrings…always have to have my earrings on….lol…..cute blog..don’t think i’ve ever visited here before…..and you say you just had a baby??? neat…CONGRATS!!

Thanks for stopping by! I have to agree…earrings are great! That’s one thing I miss…I let my ears close up years ago…two much maintenance and if they aren’t real gold, it causes problems :(. They are super cute & easy though!
