Small Successes

Small Successes #9

Lil’ Bit hasn’t been feeling well (stuffy noses & nursing kids = no fun) which has caused me to get back to basics. Decluttering my day, so to speak. So without further ado, my small successes.

1. I’ve kept the kitchen clean for 2 days in a row–stove, counter, sink & all!
2. I’ve stuck to my menu plan pretty well. Like exactly!
3. We’ve decided to get the big laptop out of the house & take it back to Bones’ office. It’s like the tv in the restaurant to me. I just get sucked into it all the time & spend too much time on it. I’m home to mother not dink around online & blog all day. Which is a really big success for me.

#1 – I’ve made sure to use up what we had in the fridge.    I made bread to use up leftover fruit and put extra in the freezer.   I made stir-fry to use up the veggies before they go bad.   I’m a notorious food waster :( .

#2 – I cleaned up the kitchen yesterday, loaded & unloaded the dishwasher, and washed the “need to be done by hand” dishes.   AND I cleaned up after dinner.   Miracle!!!

#3 – I took the compost out before it got funky.

Hmmm…I think the kitchen is a bigger problem than I think if that’s all I can write about.    See more small successes at Faith & Family Live!

Small Successes #7

My small successes seem very selfish this week, but as Jen said, this isn’t a season to grit your teeth and get through, it’s a season to LIVE through.

  • I got my hair cut.  Very stylish and short.    Cool for summer and unable to put in a ponytail.   It’s the first hair cut I’ve gotten since January.   And my favorite stylist just lowered her prices so maybe I can fit it in more often!
  • I bought a TON of new clothes!   I got rid of all my old clothes that I didn’t like, didn’t fit (bigger & smaller), couldn’t nurse in, etc and had about 20 things left, very few of which coordinated.   So I went to Old Navy and bought EVERYTHING on their website I thought I might like.   Yes EVERYTHING.   And it still only set me back about $250.00.    I’m sending back about half of it, but still have a bunch of new stuff left.   Very exciting :) .    I hate feeling frumpy…it affects my attitude about everything.
  • I got the storage under the stairs purged and re-organized.    I’m almost ready to start pricing yard sale stuff.    I’ll post pics of the massive pile before I start pricing it–it’s more impressive that way.

My successes this week:

1.   I cleaned off the bed in my daughters/guest room this morning.   Boy was there a TON of stuff on it.    I needed to find the gift bag for my brother’s graduation gift :) .

2.   We took Lil’ Bitty for a walk to the park so she could play this week.   It’s finally warm enough (sometimes) to go out to play!

3.  i’m getting off the computer now to read to Lil’ Bitty :) .

Small Successes #5

Phew…I don’t even know where to try and find 3 this week.

1. I have been making efforts to limit time shopping or selling to spend more quality time with my daughter.

2. I have been (VERY) slowly but surely making progress on purging our excess stuff.

3. I have been more outwardly affectionate this week. I’m normally not very demonstrative…kind of stoic almost.
