Use It Up #7

This week, I did fairly good at using up the food in my fridge.  I even used some leftover french bread from one of our dates to make super yummy baguette chips!   I also used some rice leftover from our potluck on Sunday to make beans & rice which turned out FAB!   I find that the less variety I have on hand, the more I am able to be flexible enough to use everything up.

And in a stroke of pure creativity, my blender broke while making smoothies.  I used my food processor instead.  It worked better, actually.   I may not replace the blender :)

That’s about it for me this week…

Use It Up #6

No huge successes or failures this week.

I wore out the other pair of jeans.  They are so thin that literally ANY MINUTE, I may have a huge gaping hole in a place that, well, no one but DH should see.

I used up a lot of leftover buns for garlic bread.  I’ve even used up a bunch of extra noodles in lunches.  I’ve been pretty successful in not throwing out extra food for a change.

Use It Up #5

I got nothing this week.   Well, i guess that isn’t true. I DID get most of the leftover bean dip from the party eaten on Super Bowl Sunday.

My goal for this week is to eat up all the junk/treats that remain in our house in preparation for Lent.    Luckily, there isn’t much :) .   Some Kool-Aid, some juice, nut snacks, one final microwave popcorn packet, some odds and ends for favorite crackers, etc.

Use It Up #4

Well I kind of have a mixed bag this week.

USE IT UP -

FAIL – I still threw out what seemed to be a TON of food this week, BUT

SUCCESS – I tried to use up a bunch of leftover couscous in a frittatta.   It was okay, but nothing I’d repeat.   I also used a bunch of leftover cheese sauce to make some homemade hamburger helper type stuff and THAT worked out well.

DO WITHOUT – and today I’m doing without a car because DH’s is getting his fixed.

Use it Up #3

Sorry that I didn’t get this up last week.  Lil’ Bit wasn’t feeling well and I was doing some (MORE) discernment surrounding computer time.

This week I had some successes…

USE IT UP – I used up some getting old baby carrots in a pot of HOMEMADE turkey soup.   Mmmmm.

MAKE IT DO – I started working on my Household Notebook v.4 this week. Instead of going out to Walmart or Staples to get NEW supplies (I CANNOT be trusted to not come out with $50 of office supplies), I pulled an old note book out and decided to cover it with fabric.  I wanted this HN to be pretty so that I might, you know, USE it.    I used stuff I already had to make my notebook.   I’m still debating about the fabric though.   I’m not a sewer so my fabric stash is SUPER small.
