7 Quick Takes #21

It’s been so long since I participated in a quick takes but multiple things have kept me from posting recently.

1. I have started working again. Sort of. From home. We have been working on getting the business up and running as of January 1. The big deal this week has been getting our first ever ad out before the deadline (which is today). so I’ve been hauling on that all week. I also ordered business cards, pens, and need to finish brochures & the website. I need to put together the price lists for my husband, too. And a million other things I haven’t thought of yet, I’m sure.

2. That wasn’t very quick was it? Oh well. We are also nightweaning Lil Bit. It feels as though it might be a full wean, which I have mixed feelings about.

3. I have mentioned several times that I spend too much time online (I sound like a broken record!) which is part of the reason for not being active much this week. Bones & I both had retreats this month and we are making some changes. I’m sure once a routine is, well, routine, I’ll be on more frequently. I’m sure you all are hanging on my every. word. instead of being with your families, right? Yeah, that’s what I thought :) .

4. I got an awesome package from the USCCB this week. I ordered the hardcover book “Catholic Household Blessings & Prayers” on sale for $8.00! Amazon has it for $25. I also got two other books used from them that don’t look like’ve ever been read. Error or blessing?

5. I feel terrible because I missed my first book review deadline this week. It’s a TOUGH book to get through. You don’t just read it front to back, that’s for sure! And it’s a new company, so I don’t even have a good track record. Ugh.

6. On the book front, I’m excited that my Mothers In Christ group is starting a book club! I’ve always wanted to join a book club & one where Lil Bit would be welcome and where I can learn my faith more? I’m in heaven!

7. I’m also starting a book study on the book “A Mother’s Rule of Life” starting the first Saturday in January. I’d love to have you join me!

God bless & Merry Christmas!

7 Quick Takes #20

1.

I got a phone call that my keys were turned in a few hours after I posted last week.   Yeah!!!

2.

Last week, I mentioned my love for bloggy giveaways.  I won another one!   This was a 6 foot play tunnel from Adventures of a Somewhat Crunchy Mama!  It came in already and Lil Bit will LOVES it.  Whoopie!   I also got a Michael Buble CD from a twitter party I went to yesterday at @momsmarbles.   But that hasn’t arrived yet.  Obviously:)

3.

Ooooh and my Disney Basket from 5 minutes for mom came in.   It was fab!   I got a beach towel, a reusable shopping bag, two vinyl mickey mouse figurines, minnie mouse ears (headband), a big stuffed minnie and mickey mouse, a pirate spy glass, a mickey mouse sword/flashlight, a disney theme park Monopoly (The BEST!), a princess pen, a mom stickie for my car, a (NICE) insulated coffee mug, a baseball hat and a cinderella music box.   Very cool!  I now have some toys that older kids will find interesting, too.

4.

Bad ice cream is not worth eating.  I bought some Ben & Jerry’s & some Haagen-Das.  Then I bought Country Time.   Ughhhh.  Barely worth eating.   Glad I only bought a pint!

5.

We are traveling to RC this weekend to go to my dad’s wife’s son’s wedding.    It’s going to be a family filled weekend and I haven’t even considered what we are going to pack or wear yet and we leave today.

6.

Does not wasting food EVER become second nature or do you always have to be super diligent about it?   I’m good for a while and then I throw out enough food to feed a third-world country for a day!   It’s super frustrating!

7.

I am thankful for all that God has provided (especially via giveaways ;D) including the health of my lovely girl who has been coughing (but nothing worse) all week.   I am thankful for my home, the fact that I can afford heat, the occassional treat (usually books), MORE than enough food to eat and great friends.

7 Quick Takes #19

1.

I didn’t make a huge announcement that I was pregnant, so I’m not going to make a huge announcement that I am no longer pregnant.   We had a miscarriage last week.   And if that wasn’t crappy enough, I lost my keys while in the ER AND a book that I was reading so that I could review it.

2.

We are doing okay.   By which I mean, me.  Bones is okay as long as I don’t lose it.   I seem to have a great amount of peace with it.   Will it hit me hard later?   Maybe.   I guess only time will tell.

3.

I had a great time at a twitter party last Saturday with Once a Month Mom & even won something!  I got a Gerber prize pack.  No idea what’s in it, but if I can’t use it, I’ll give it to the Pregnancy Care Center.   I’m sure they will be able to use it if I can’t.

4.

I love blogger giveaways.   The odds are SOOOOO much better than say, the Lotto.   And they are free, so yeah, why not?

5.

I have been super busy, like to the tune of 7 washed loads of laundry sitting in every laundry basket and hamper I OWN, not put away.   Bones & his business partner are splitting up the business and I have been helping.   I’ve created all the content for the website and I’m working on the marketing materials/plan.   Busy, busy, busy.

6.

I love Lil’ Bits curly blonde hair and dimples.   And her laugh.   She is such a joy to me!

7.

Got any good recipes for Chicken?   That’s what is in the fridge and I would like to use some before I pack the rest in the freezer :) .   B/S breasts.   Anyone?

7 Quick Takes #18

–1–

It’s been a while since I participated in Seven Quick Takes but I just felt drawn to it today…Lots of things that aren’t enough for a full post.   I think I’m closing in on the end of the first trimester.   Not that it means much.  This pregnancy has been so subtle that if I hadn’t been pregnant before, I’d brush it up to other problems.   I could ALMOST see the whole “I didn’t KNOW I was pregnant” thing.   Except when it comes to the kicking, belly, & heartburn.  Come on.  Really.

–2–

Since we are pregnant, we are starting the process of getting Lil’ Bit to her own bed.  So we are night weaning.  Once she falls asleep, I don’t let her nurse until at LEAST 4:00-4:30 AM.   And often she didn’t need to.   But now we need to make sure that she doesn’t.   I can’t be night nursing two :) .    I’ve found that a later bedtime and hardy bedtime snack help her to sleep longer.   Any other tips?   She’s 20 mos old.

–3–

Carrie @ Reading to Know has started a new challenge/blog:   Reading my Library.  I love it!  I don’t know why I didn’t think of that instead of just getting overwhelmed about where to start or how would I find a good book for Lil’ Bit.

–4–

Incidentally, I also won the first three books of the Anne of Green Gables series from Carrie and got them in the mail the other day.   I can’t wait to start them.   Thanks, Carrie!

–5–

Speaking of books and libraries, my local branch had their used book sale last week and I SCORED!  I got 20+ PRISTINE vintage Disney records, including my husband’s favorite from when he was a child:  Rudyard Kipling’s Just-So Stories (including the Elephant’s Child, read by no other than the voice of Sir Hiss in Robin Hood)!!   I got some neat kids books, too, but the records were the height of my day!

–6–

And it was a Disney kind of weekend, because while I was standing in line waiting for the library to open, I got an email that I had won a Disney prize pack from 5 Minutes for Mom!

–7–

We also went to a Fall Harvest Festival at a quasi-local apple farm (an hour and a half away).   We were kind of let down.   The weather was nice, but it just wasn’t very cool.  Lil’ Bit, as always, was attracted to the play structure/swings.   They had no cider.  WTF?!?   The donuts were awesome (fresh out of the oven…yum!).   And it was a little early for Bones’ favorite apples, though the Honeycrisps might be my new favorite.   Anyway, it wasn’t much better than the heirloom apple farm & they have TONS of varieties.

So that’s it for me.   For more quick takes, visit Jen @ ConversionDiary.com.
