When we built our house six years ago, we painted the whole thing ourselves.   We used six different colors.   Of those, two didn’t turn out the way I wanted.  I’ve asked my husband if I can repaint but he looks at me like I’ve lost my sanity.   The navy blue that took 6 coats plus primer was still too fresh I think.  That being said, when we recently moved from everyone being in the master bedroom suite to being in the downstairs bedrooms, I had to find a way to live with the paint color without repainting.

1.  New bedding.   Luckily, my daughter was moving to a queen bed from the twin and she needed bedding that size anyway.   I discovered that it was almost as much money to buy sheets as it was to buy a bed in a bag so we did that.

2.  Accessories.   While we were shopping for my daughters summer quilt, they had many of the matching accessories on clearance.   We bought her a nightlight, a lamp, some throw pillows and a piece of canvas art for under $50.00.

3.  Wall Decals.   We found some great wall decals while we were shopping, too.    Wall decals are a great way to add some spice to your walls for much cheaper than good art is.   One site that has very affordable wall decals is Wallum.   I’m currently looking at getting a family quote for our photo wall.

4.  Repurposed furniture.   Another way to freshen up a room is to get some new furniture.   We repurposed an old table from 3 offices ago that my daughter loves.  It’s now her bedside table.   We also have an old conference table chair as the parent reading chair.   I’m considering moving her recliner (yes, she has her own recliner compliments of grandma), in there and creating a reading nook.

Would you like some wall decals to freshen up your digs?   You can enter to win a gift certificate to Wallum.com!  Hurry, sweepstakes ends 10/10/11 and is open to US and CAN!!
