A Distant Melody is the first novel in the Wings of Glory series by Sarah Sundin.   Allie, a daughter in a wealthy family with impossible standards, will do anything to get her mother’s approval.  She has resigned herself to marrying a man she doesn’t love but then meets Lt. Walter at a friend’s wedding.   For one blissful week, she sees how life could be and they begin a correspondence that will change their lives.    Letters fly between the two of them, but can they sort our the secrets, commitments and expectations that keep them apart?

I LOVED this book.  I loved how seamless and logical the struggles and decisions of the characters were.   I loved Allie & Lt Walter.  I loved that they were two imperfect people who had much to learn and I loved their friendship and romance!   It was an expertly woven story and I greatly anticipate the next book in the series!

Sounds interesting – and I always prefer books where the main characters are far from perfect!
