I had a kind of tough pregnancy and was hoping that the recovery period would be an easy life reboot. I felt like I was spending too much time plugged into my computer and not into my kids.

I was looking forward to using Catholic Mom’s Cafe: 5 Minute Retreats for Every Day of the Year by Donna Marie Cooper O’Boyle. Catholic Mom’s Cafe is a series of daily meditations set up with a monthly theme of either faith, hope or love. Each day’s 5-minute meditation has a quote on the topic from a saint, a story to ponder, several prayers for the day (the big 3, plus another — included in the front), and then something to consider as you go about your day.

I used this book from mid-June until now and it was perfect for this busy time of my life. As long as I sat down with this daily, I could at least be assured of an Our Father, a Hail Mary & a Glory Be, plus another. With 5 & 2 year old girls & a newborn, this was frequently all I got done. But it was enough to get me through a day.

If you are pinched for time (or even if you are not), I recommend this book. It’s great for moms with littles, middles or even grown children. I liked this book the best of her books — I like those with a ‘Do’ element best :).
