So we have changed up our homeschooling for Itty Bitty after attending a Mom’s Night Out at the Child’s Preservation Library. My original plan (before I started homeschooling) was to just use great books. I totally lost sight of that and now I have come full circle back to that. It’s working much better for us all!

mid-year curriculum changes prek

Our mid-semester changes for preschool were these.

Drop Everything

Well not everything. We did drop everything from our original preschool curriculum list except Jr. Kindergarten from Memoria Press, though. I realized that she would not even qualify for Kindergarten next year and could use the extra year to mature.

Add Handwriting

We are slowly beginning to add handwriting via the Zaner-Blosser Handwriting app. Yes, I’m starting with cursive. And we are going in the order from Rhythm of Handwriting.

Letter of the Week

I’m thinking of slowly introducing letter sounds now that she knows them by sight. Rather than use Foundations (yet), I’m putting together Letter of the Week lapbooks to cover scripture memorization, Saints, a poem, and more as part of reinforcing the letter. I hope to share that soon.

What about you? Do you change things up when you find they aren’t working?
