Do you feather your nest? Are you a DIY queen? A bargain hunter? Or is it so overwhelming that you don’t even try? I like to decorate, but I never read home decor blogs; their style is just to cluttered for me. If you want to decorate but want freedom to be you, The Nesting Place: It Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect to Be Beautiful is the book for you.

I have read The Nester’s blog before. As host to the 31 Days of… Series each October, I used to read her site each day. Now I hardly read any blogs, but I still like her style & message and was interested to hear what she had to say about decorating my home.

The Nesting Place is part biography and part decorating advice with ample grace & God. She shares the lessons she learned about decorating through a series of rentals (and a few purchases). Not only does she include lessons from dwelling in rentals and purchased homes, but in times of plenty & lean ones, too.

Filled with imperfection and quirkiness and the grace to be yourself, The Nesting Place is not a book of how to decorate a beautiful, show worthy home. Rather, it’s a loose set of guidelines of how to make the place you live beautiful enough to make you smile. She talks about 3 things worth splurging on. Her tip on #3 in Chapter 11 was a duh moment for me, but I had never thought about it that way. That tip alone was worth reading and I have a few new tips and ideas that fit my style, clutter quotient & desire.

If you want to have a beautiful HOME, don’t wait for perfection. Decorating is a process and is totally personal. Myquillyn Smith will help walk you through a few steps of finding your beauty and function on any budget and in any home.  This book is totally worth it and the pictures come through wonderfully on both my Kindle Paperwhite AND my Kindle App on the iPhone.  Great book for those wanting a beautiful AND functional home no matter where you are living or what budget you are living on!
