This month as a Tommy Mommy, we got to review a set of two books aimed at 1-4 year olds: My Story: Joseph and My Story: David.
These two books are about the David from the story of David & Goliath and Joseph from Joseph & the many colored coat. They are written in a very colloquial way — almost from a kids point of view with very modern language. The text is written in very different fonts, even within the same sentence, making it great for identifying letters in all sorts of typefaces. The back has a sticker journal that summarizes the main points of the story.
Overall, my girls liked these well enough. They may have a bigger appeal with boys. No girl characters :). I thought they were cute but I thought each story missed an important part. One was that Joseph’s father liked him best and the coat was simply the last straw. The other was that David was much smaller than everyone else.
Overall, though, if you have little boys, they will probably enjoy these fast moving, easy to understand, colorfully illustrated stories.
