I love when Monica sends out emails about her newest products!  This time she released 2 sets — Saint Scripts 1 & 2.  Saint Scripts is a printable file of 20 saints in a recipe card-esque format.   Like most of the printables from Arma Dei, the file is in black & white AND color.

There are 4 printable cards to each page.   Each color saint card covers various aspects of the saint–name, brief bio, when they were alive, where they were from, a quote, what they are the patron saint of, when their feast day is AND original art.   The b/w cards have blank lines for an older child to write their own facts and the saint picture is drawn to color.  There is also a completely blank card for you to add your own saints.

Set 1 has St Andre, St Anthony, St Catherine, St Clare, St Dominic, St Faustina, St Francis, St John, St Jude, St Nicholas, St Pio, St Patrick, St Paul, St Peter, St Raphael, St Rita, Bl Teresa, St Therese, St Vincent AND Jesus.  Set 2 includes St Agnes, St Anne, St Augustine, St Benedict, St Bernadette, St Cecilia, St Gabriel, St George, St Gerard, St Gianna, St Joan, Bl John Paul II, St Joseph, St Juan, St Kateri, St Lucy, St Maria, St Maximilian, St Michael, St Monica AND Blessed Virgin Mary.  Each set is $15 or both for $25 as printable PDF’s.

I really liked the simple drawings that helped us learn what to look for on icons of saints we are unfamiliar with.  I also really liked that there were filled in saint cards as well as blank ones.  My littles can learn and when they are older they can write their own facts.  I only have 2 wishes.  First, I wish that the maps were a little easier to read.  I didn’t like the size of the arrow or that there was no star or color indicating location.  I would loved if it were color-coded by continent or something so that they could be used in history & geography also.   The other thing I would have liked would have been to have them more evenly divided so that the could be used as double-sided flash cards.  But those are both really minor wishes :).

They would be great laminated on a ring, similar to these Holy Card ones I’ve made.  I also like her idea to cut them by the picture & match the text to the picture.  You could also print 2 or 4 sets and play Go Fish with them.  For older children, use the facts as clues instead of simply asking for the saint.  You could also put the cards in a small photo album or brag book to look at during Mass.  In a big church or cathedral, you could even see how many icons you see.

If you are looking for a cute way to learn about more saints, I would check out Saint Scripts 1 & 2.  As always, the folks at Arma Dei are producing great Catholic Catechesis printables.  If you’ve never looked at their offerings, you can see my review of their sacrament set and check them out at ArmaDei.com.
