The other book I received from Thomas Nelson this month is a beautiful storybook bible — God’s Love For You Bible Storybook.   God’s Love For You Bible Storybook is a gift-quality book.   It’s not small at about 10×8.5 inches, but is filled with your child’s favorite bible stories.   Each pleasing to the touch page is sturdy enough to withstand frequent reading.   The stories are well suited to even preschoolers with beautiful illustrations & an average amount of text per page.

What really sets this book apart are the profiles of how people in foreign countries were helped by World Vision.  We have used the bible stories that correspond to what we have been studying in our Bible & Catechism classes.  Since each story or two is followed by a foreign country profile, we have been reading the nearest story about a child somewhere in the world, too.   Afterwards, we have been finding their country on the map, adding the country’s GeoCard to our deck.  We have also discussed how the people in other countries live and how we can help them.   There are 33 countries with some mentioned more than once & I think every continent was hit.

God’s Love For You Bible Storybook would be an excellent resource to any family.  It’s beautiful and engaging for smaller children, has aspects to interest older children, and promotes learning more than just bible by reading it.   Overall, I really like it and we bring it out regularly as a part of our studies for both religion & geography.  I anticipate that we will bring it out when we start world history later this fall as well, since it starts with creation.

My daughter is learning self-defense as one of our play date friends can be aggressive at times. She is learning she is strong and able to set boundaries for herself and her space.

We recently had some family friends over and one of their children has severe health issues and cannot walk. My kids showed compassion in making sure there were toys near the little girl so she could play and participate. They were so sweet to include her and after they went home we talked about compassion, kindness, and how others might be different or have challenges but that we can help them.

My children have learned a lot from a boy in our church that is a Foster child. They are learning to be loving when people are different and that they are very blessed to live in a home with their parents.
