Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

One does not live by non-fiction alone.  Sometimes it’s nice to unwind with a good piece of fiction without throwing your faith out the window.  That’s why I LOVE reviewing books for Revell!  They have such well written Christian fiction.  It’s not all Amish & spans the genres to even include great suspense.

This time I decided to review Welcome to Last Chance.  This is a contemporary Christian romance, the first in a series.  The story opens with a volatile young lady whose car breaks down just inside the small town of Last Chance.  On the run from a bad lifestyle in LA, she is stranded there.  Over the course of the months she is there, she falls in love with the town and its people.  Some more than others. Ahem.  But is she finally safe or will her past catch up with her?

Well, I won’t lie–the main story is fairly predictable.  But that doesn’t mean that it’s not enjoyable to read!  I really did enjoy my time spent with this book.  I liked the side stories. I also liked the characters and almost like the townspeople better than the main characters.  They painted a great picture of the character of small town life–good AND bad.

Overall, if you are looking for some good brain candy & prefer a more contemporary story, this is a good choice. It has some conflict but isn’t so much that it will keep you up at night until you finish it, like a good suspense novel will do.  Welcome to Last Chance would be a great beach read!  (You know, if your kids are old enough to not be watched every second :D)
