Dragon Slayers: The Essential Training Guide for Young Dragon Fighters is one of the most unique books I have ever seen about sin & temptation for children. Aimed at kids from about ages 9-12, Dragon Slayers is beautiful enough to give as a gift. It has a beautiful suede-like black cover and the pages inside are thick and colorful. The illustrations are beautifully done and even the font choices were well made.

Written by Sir Wyrvern Pugilist, Dragon Slayers is written as a manual for slaying dragons (sin). It’s very Harry Potter-ish in feel but is pretty conservative in content. I LOVE that this book approached such a subject in a way that kids would find appealing without being watered down.

The first section talks about the whys of dragon slaying, talking about Dragons, a dragon slayers’ armor, the Holy Trinity & the Ancient Manual (Bible). The second part is a beautifully illustrated guide to dragons (sin/obstacles/temptations). The third part is about great dragon slayers of old (saints) and the dragons they battled.

While my oldest (5.5 yrs old) is not old enough to really GET Dragon Slayers, I’m really looking forward to sharing this with her. If you are struggling to find a good gift for a boy, this would REALLY appeal to them. It’s not, however, so masculine that it wouldn’t appeal to a girl especially if you preface it with some good King Arthur to whet the appetite :). Overall, I really loved this book & recommend it to anyone who has boys or needs to buy a gift for one.
