Some of you may have noticed my post about tablescaping on a budget had a picture of my Valentine’s Day table from last year. While we aren’t big on celebrating Valentine’s Day per se, my girls do like to make Valentine’s for grandparents they don’t often see and we will be sending a care package to them.
Since all my little ones are girls, they love getting all fancy! This year, I even have little red outfits with hearts for them to wear that I’ve collected from various places. The biggest thing that I do, though, is plan a special valentine’s menu.
This was last year’s menu (click on the image for a larger view):
This year, I’m going to switch it up a bit since they weren’t all hits last year, especially breakfast.
Breakfast
- Heart-shaped french toast with strawberry butter
- Heart-shaped sausage patties
Snack
- Strawberry smoothie
Lunch
- Heart-shaped Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
- Tomato Soup
- Heart-shaped fruit skewers
Snack
Dinner
- Homemade Pizza with a heart made of pepperoni’s
This year, we are not going to have dessert because sugar that late makes my 2 year old unbearable to deal with. Instead, we are all going to have some of the peanut M&M’s that I bought and will package as butterflies similar to last year.
