Do you know what you are eating for dinner tonight?   Tomorrow?   How about lunches or snacks or breakfast?    Are you spending WAY to much time cooking?

While I do meal plan, I am guilty of spending way too much time cooking.   Ever since the days when the assembly stores were open (in 2004-2005), I have loved doing bulk cooking.  I even did a huge freezer cooking project in preparation for my second baby.  Unfortunately, I haven’t spent much time figuring out how to do it when I buy all my beef and pork by the critter, but after reading What’s For Dinner, Mom? by Lorrie Flem, I am looking for ways to get back into it.

What’s For Dinner, Mom? gave me a ton of tips for freezing meals.  Like I said, I’ve done it before, but the results weren’t always worth the time.  She gives tons of tips and tricks about making great food that keeps it’s quality.

And if you aren’t into freezer cooking or have limited space?   Well, she also shares her favorite tools for cooking from scratch, how to save money and how to save time in the kitchen.   The last section includes a lot of freezer cooking meals, but also includes some great last-minute meals ideas, too.

I love the recipes in What’s For Dinner, Mom?.  I am a very comfort food, casserole, pasta, meat and potatoes kind of gal.  No frilly food for me!  Lorrie provides plenty of recipes that I haven’t tried yet and has LOTS of recipes for making your own mixes and convenience foods.

While they are by no means part of the “real food” movement, if you are still using mostly boxed foods (like Hamburger Helper), this is a great starting point for doing more cooking from scratch.  She includes homemade spaghetti sauce, alfredo sauce, taco seasoning and more. If you are working on eating more “real foods,” like I am, it’s really easy to modify the recipes to substitute ingredients that you have converted from normal.

If this book looks like something you would like to have, leave me a comment.   Eternal Encouragement will be selecting one Gabby mom reviewer to win a copy of this print book.   They will also be selecting one of the reviewers commenters to win one as well.   So if I win, you could win :).

Good Luck!

I’m with you…no frilly food or food with a name I can’t spell or pronounce!

You are right. Lorrie’s recipes are great step up from using convenience foods!
I did a lot of freezer meals before our daughter was born, too! She’s adopted, but I still knew I have a lot of sleepless nights with a newborn.
