Well, I decided to share my house decor for the season and then my daughter promptly got sick. Here it is, warts and all.
These are the seasonal blocks that I finally finished (after 3 years) thanks to a friend loaning me her Sizzix. They also say Happy Birthday, He Has Risen, Hugs & Kisses, Happy Halloween and God Bless the USA. I used to decorate my bookshelf like a mantel, but my 3 year old destroyed the garland last year & my 1 year old can get to it since I moved the couch in front of it. Maybe next year :).
My advent wreath. It did have evergreen branches from our tree but there were no needles left so I threw them out.
This is one of 2 steel stars my dad used to make 20+ years ago. They are covered with tinsel garland & multi-colored lights. I bought new tinsel this year in gold & purple to recover them and will use white lights.
I decided to forgo my normal Hallmark ornaments this year and use my “designer store tree ornaments” (i.e. the colors match — nothing else designer about ’em) and handmade ones instead. We are also adding our Jesse Tree ornament to the main tree and my almost 4 year old is the decorative genius. I’m loving it!
This lovely ceramic tree was my mom’s for years. She liked it so much, she purchased a second one. When my parents divorced, she liked the new one better so I got the original.
This is our simple table. I’d normally have more on it, but my linens are in the heap of junk behind my couch :). My older girl did a great job decorating the gingerbread house and had a blast!
Last, but not least is our stockings. Since the couch is in front of the bookshelf this year, I put them on the side of the girls bookshelves :).
That’s it for our humble abode :). Merry Christmas!

I love it! My dad even found new lights/stars for it. I wish I knew where…

18 December 2011 at 12:00 PM (12 years ago)Hi! Nice to meet another Catholic mom on Gabby Moms! Looking forward to getting to know you a little better through this program and your blog! I like your Advent Wreath. Ours is kinda thrown together this year – I found a wreath at JoAnn’s and placed clear glass candle holders on top of it. So every time we light them I have to reposition the holders so that they don’t lean (or fall) too much!

I haven’t had a chance to go through the list yet. I look forward to reading your site :). Ours is pretty thrown together, too. I can never seem to get it quite right…
