Ms. Claire Laurent is a talented artist who works in the family forgery business. After the family gallery is ransacked and her father is severely injured, they send her away to escape the thieves. The address she goes to is yet another forger who counts on using her abilities. Tired of the family business, she leaves and ends up meeting a pastor who helps her. She gets a job as an assistant with a wealthy woman, who happens to be an art lover. While there, she begins to fall in love with the woman’s lawyer who is keeping an eye on her.
I read tons of historical novels but A Lasting Impression was really unique. There was the usual boy meets girl, boy and girl run into a problem, boy and girl overcome odds. BUT this was very specialized in the topic (art & forgeries) as opposed to simply local color. I loved the detail and wish I knew more about art. It has really renewed my desire to learn more!
