I was recently contacted by My Storytime Friends to find out if I would like to review their My Storytime Friends kit on my blog.   The box came on Christmas Eve and so I decided to pull the tag with the code for the online access and dive into that and I let Lil Bit unwrap it for Christmas.

The Kit includes:

  • a plush stuffed animal (6 different colors available)
  • a beautifully illustrated hard cover story book
  • and membership to My Storytime Friends online and Book of the Month club

Intended for children ages 3-8, the books (written by award winning author Andrew Wolfendon) have uplifting themes about overcoming challenges, helping others and achieving dreams.  The membership to My Storytime Friends online includes:

  • Narrated online flip-book version of the Book of the Month
  • Printable colored PDF copies of each Book of the Month story plus black and white versions for coloring. Hardcover copies of the books are available to members for just $6.95 with free shipping included.
  • Access to educational, interactive activities on MyStorytimeFriends.com as well as additional offline activities for children and workbooks for parents.
  • Audio-book version of each story.

Once you have purchased a kit (available online for $39.95), you will have lifetime access to new stories and activities every month on MyStorytimeFriends.com for FREE!   The only time you pay money again is if you choose to get the hardcovers mailed to you each month.  They are quality hardcover books, well worth the $6.95!

The book that came with our introductory package was a wonderful little story of a bear who liked to run but was slow as could be.   He had a penchant for helping people and decided to take up skiing and eventually became a ski rescuer (is that the right term?  I don’t ski.).  The thing that I liked best about this (and the other) books is that the parents don’t solve the problems for them.  The kids always learn something ON THEIR OWN.  I love that.   The bear is of excellent quality and although my daughter was scared of it at first, she drags it around everywhere.  I also like the supplemental materials online, especially the activity that goes with each book.   The ONLY thing that I didn’t like were the certificates that you could print to award to your child for doing something related to the book.  I thought those were hokey but DH and I aren’t into that kind of thing :).  If you are, then there ARE no bad things about this kit.
