The Read and Share Toddler Bible is a beautiful book that would be a perfect gift for a little one for Baptism, Christmas or Easter.    It’s small size (appox. 7 x 6) is great for little hands to hold and the pages are thick and sturdy.   It’s probably not suitable for VERY small children, but my 1-1/2 year old daughter can easily turn the pages and likes to look at the colorful illustrations.   The pages also have the just the right number of words to keep her attention.

This book has all the classic bible stories in it–Creation, Noah, Joseph, Moses, etc.   I love that each story has a small tip for how to help your toddler take the story to heart with discussion pointers and activities.   My only (very slight) peeve is that the language is a little TOO colloquial sometimes.   For example (p. 21)

“Out you go,” God said.  “You can’t live in the garden anymore.”

The only other thing our family noticed was that the people have funny noses :).   We will definitely be keeping this in our regular rotation and will be giving it as a gift as well.   It’s the perfect next-generation bible for a child who is outgrowing his board book Bible.   I would say this would be a good book for ages 2-4 as a read-aloud (or younger depending on whether they can “handle” paper books) and probably 5-6 as they start to read on their own.

This book was provided as part of the Thomas Nelson Book Review Blogger program.
