I was so excited to get an advance reading copy of Dawn’s Prelude by Tracie Peterson from Bethany House Publishers.    This is the first book in Tracie’s new series Song of Alaska.   Lydia is a young widow in a power struggle with her (significantly older) abusive husband’s children over her inheritance of all the marital property upon his death.   After 12 years in an abusive marriage, she moves to Alaska to live with her only remaining family — an aunt.  While there, she meets a wonderful young man named Kjell.

But all sorts of things happen when she finally gets to Alaska.   There is scheming, plots, murder, arson, kidnapping, bribery and all manner of illegal and immoral things going on around Lydia. Peterson doles out details, compelling you to keep turning pages.  Once I picked it up, I couldn’t set it down–I read it all night!  Without giving away the ending, let’s just say there was a great teaser and I can’t wait to read the next one!

I will definitely be picking up more Traci Peterson books and if you go get this one, you will NOT be disappointed.   This is EASILY one of the best books I have gotten to review so far, if not THE best.   Seriously; go get one. Don’t walk, run (but don’t speed!).
