People all over the web talk about coupons like they are the end all, be all of saving money on groceries. They post all these great posts about combining sales & coupons and getting tons of food for like $5.00. I’ve been puzzling for weeks about how they do it!
I now understand Walgreens & RiteAid…if you are looking for details on those, my favorite site is Money Saving Mom. But I digress. Really though, how do they do it? I don’t buy boxed foods (for the most part) and they don’t give you milk or fresh veggie coupons (usually). I’ve seen the coupons in the Record-Eagle. They are almost worthless.
I determined it was time to experiment. I walked to the 7-11 Sunday morning on a mission to get the R-E, the Detroit Free Press & the Grand Rapids Press to compare the coupon inserts. The Detroit paper was WAY better than the TC paper. I couldn’t find the GR press. Does anyone know where it’s available on Sunday AM?
There has also been a lot of buzz on the web about All You magazine having great coupons. I bought one at WalMart (for 20-some cents off the cover price of $1.97) and they do have some big coupons. MSM posted a link to this site where you can get 2 years of All You for $18.00 until 9.26.08.
I’ve also learned that Sam’s Club does not take coupons and you can bid on people to clip coupons for you on ebay.
Does anyone have any coupon tips or tricks? Know of any great area deals? Do you know of a store that does double-coupons? Post a comment & let us know!
